Join us for a festive celebration as we reflect on the year that was, share stories, reconnect with old friends, and meet new ones. The Women of Sport Christmas Luncheon - presented by Hyundai, is a perfect opportunity for the WA sports industry to come together and make a difference this holiday season.

On the day, guests will have the exciting opportunity to purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win an exquisite 14K Rose Gold, Mixed Coloured Sapphire, and Diamond Line Bracelet valued at $22,000.

All raffle proceeds will directly support Worthy Australia, a Perth based charity providing life-changing post-crisis support to women and children who have experienced homelessness due to domestic violence.

Together, we can help Worthy Australia create the SportWest Women of Sport Safe Haven - a beautifully furnished home where brave families can rebuild their lives with dignity. Each home offers not just safety and comfort, but the gift of hope, self-worth, and a brighter future.

First AusPlay Data Release Using New Methodology

This week, the Australian Sports Commission released its latest AusPlay data. This data was collected in the 2023-24 financial year and is the first release based on a new online methodology.

AusPlay collects national, state and territory data on over 600 different participation sports and activities in Australia and who is participating in them.

In July 2023, AusPlay shifted from phone to online data collection. This major methodological transition introduced a break in the time series and trends have re-started with the October 2024 release of new data.

Children's Week

Reflecting on Children's Week, we encourage all organisations and clubs to look forwards and consider how you can create cleaner and safer environments for the children at your club now, and the children who will be at your club in the future.

Last week was a time to to celebrate how far we've come as an industry in creating safe spaces in WA sport. It is all of our responsibility to strive for continuous improvement in ensuring our kids are safe in the sport of their choice, and together with the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, and Sport Integrity Australia, SportWest will continue to support our members on this journey.

For support or information on how your organisation can help your clubs and members address child safe practices, reach out to us at the True Sport team on truesport@sportwest.com.au, or take a look at our suite of True Sport Child Safeguarding resources.
