Sport Integrity Australia visit Perth |
It was great to have Sport Integrity Australia in Western Australia this week, with representatives
Petria Thomas, Assistant Director - Engagement; Luke McCann, Acting CEO; and Linda Muir, Director Sector Capability, attending a range of meetings with the industry and key Government partners.
SportWest had the opportunity to further engage with SIA whilst they were here taking the opportunity to represent the industries desire for a fun and safe sporting environment, whilst advocating the need for further clarity and streamlined communication to assist West Australian sports in navigating a complex landscape. |

International Day of People with Disability |
Developmental Disability WA is offering funds to support organisations and groups to hold inclusive community events or activities on or around International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD).
Celebrated annually throughout the world on the 3rd of December, the recognition day aims to increase public awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability.
The WA theme for 2023 is 'My Life, Our Community'.
This sponsorship funding aligns with the vision of A Western Australia for Everyone: State Disability Strategy 2020-2030 to build a more inclusive Western Australia and empower people with disability to participate meaningfully in all parts of society. |

CEO Voice: Appreciation isn’t enough. Sporting organisations need a sustainable business case to thrive |
CEO of the Australian Institute of Management WA, Professor Gary Martin, has written an opinion piece on the importance of the building a strong business case for Sport in WA.
Gary states "We all appreciate the positive role sport plays in our community. Yet appreciation alone will not suffice. Sport needs the same approach to building a sustainable business case as any other organisation". |

Outdoor Active Recreation Participation Grants Program | Closing Soon |
The Outdoor Active Recreation (OAR) program provides financial support to organisations across WA to deliver accessible outdoor active recreation opportunities that will encourage participation, develop life skills and maximise benefits for participants and service providers across various recreation streams.
Grant amounts of $5000 up to $50,000 are available to eligible organisations delivering projects that align with the More People More Active Outdoors Framework and maximise the benefits of participating in outdoor active recreation activities.
Applications close 5:00pm (AWST) Monday 18 September 2023. |

Women Leaders in Sport |
There’s less than one week left to apply for the Women Leaders in Sport Grants.
Sport has the power to set new benchmarks and drive positive social change; one being equal representation in sport.
Through striving to achieve gender equity in sport it sets an important tone for the wider Australian public. It also opens doors for the next generation, shakes up unconscious bias and helps advocate for respectful behaviour towards women.

Swimming Super Star Wins Gold at Junior Championships |
A huge congratulations to WAIS Athlete, and Junior Sport Star Finalist, Iona Anderson who secured a Gold medal in the 50m backstroke (with an impressive time of 28.01 seconds) at the 2023 World Aquatics Junior Championships held in Netanya, Israel.
Iona also won a silver medal in the 100m backstroke, swimming a 59.88
