Appointment of Director General Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport | Note from DLGSC |

The Cook Government has this week announced five new public sector leaders have been appointed to departments that are being reshaped to deliver more jobs, hospitals and homes for Western Australians.
Mr Chad Anderson has been appointed as Director General of the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport (CITS) from 4 August 2025.
Mr Anderson was most recently the Deputy Director General, Tourism at the Queensland Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation where he had responsibility for setting strategic direction and leading the Tourism industry across Queensland.
He has more than 20 years’ leadership experience across federal, state and territory governments with a strong track record in the finance, education, sport and tourism sectors.
Ms Lanie Chopping will take up the role of Director General, Local Government, Industry Regulation and Safety from 1 July 2025. In the interim, Ms Marcelyn Nicolau will act as Director General, CITS from 1 July to 3 August 2025, assisting with the smooth transition to Mr Anderson’s appointment. |

This session introduces different ways of thinking about, designing and delivering a variety of experiences that keep people and communities engaged in sport, for life. This session aims to promote a dynamic, adaptable model of sport design that reflects modern life, diverse identities, and evolving motivations for being active.
These webinars are designed to empower state sporting associations and state active recreation organisations to become champions of participation and inclusion. Inclusion, participation or development officers and/or CEOs, general managers responsible for inclusion and participation are encouraged to attend. |
