Nominations for WA’s premier sports awards, are now open! 

Nominations for Western Australia’s premier sports awards, the WA Sport Awards, are now open!


We have a range of award categories that recognise excellence in sport and celebrate the achievements across all levels of the WA Sports Industry.


Categories include: WA Sports Star, rebel Junior Sports Star, Coach of the Year, Team of the Year, ActiveXchange Official of the Year, Service to Sport – May Campbell Medal, Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries Sports Administrator of the Year, revolutioniseSPORT Community Club of the Year - John Gilmour Medal, Healthway Healthy Club of the Year, RSM Australia Community Sport Volunteer of the Year, Community Sporting Event of the Year, Sport Initiative of the Year and Organisation of the Year.


Nominations close on Monday 20 November, at 5pm and can be made via the SportWest website

Women of Sport Network Christmas Luncheon | Thursday 30 November

As the year begins to wrap up and we head into the festive season, SportWest invites you to join us for the Women of Sport Network, Christmas Luncheon, proudly supported by Hyundai on Thursday 30 November at the Ambrose Estate, Wembley Golf Course.

True Sport Child Safeguarding | National Principles for Child Safe Organisations Interactive Workshop

You are invited to attend the inaugural True Sport Child Safeguarding Workshop where you will have the opportunity to better understand the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations (National Principles) and consider the work your SSA is already doing to implement each National Principle and identify your next focus areas.


During this interactive workshop, you will start to complete the True Sport Child Safeguarding Self-Assessment for your organisation and identify initial items to include in your Action Plan.


Who: This workshop is for WA State Sport Associations (SSAs). SSAs are recommended to identify their most appropriate staff member(s) and/or volunteer(s) to attend this interactive workshop. These will be individuals who will be able to drive child safeguarding journey and embed the National Principles into their respective organisations.


Date: Tuesday, 5 December 2023

Time: 9:00am - 12:00pm

Do you know someone who is a champion of multiculturalism in sport?

Nominations are now open for the WA Multicultural Awards 2024. The WA Multicultural Awards celebrate individuals and organisations who have made a positive contribution to multiculturalism in Western Australia.

There are a total of ten categories, awarded for contributions to different spheres of public and professional life. 

The Sportsperson of the Year Award is awarded to an individual who, through their commitment to their chosen sport, has lifted the profile of culturally and linguistically diverse communities and contributed to a more harmonious Western Australia.

The recipient of the 2023 Award was netballer Sunday Aryang, in recognition of her outstanding contribution to Australian netball and being the first African-born player to represent the Australian Diamonds.


Nominations close at 11:59pm on Sunday 26 November 2023.

Organising a sporting event that promotes multiculturalism?

DLGSC is offering grants of $2,000 to support community-led activities promoting and celebrating multiculturalism in Western Australia for inclusion in its Harmony Week 2024 campaign.

Activities should involve culturally and linguistically diverse (CaLD) communities in their coordination and be open to participation from the broader community. 


Applications close 4.00pm Monday 13 November 2023.
