Update from the SportWest Board |
On behalf of the Board of SportWest, I would like to inform our members and stakeholders that our Chief Executive Officer Matt Fulton has accepted the permanent appointment as Chief Executive Officer at the Western Australian Institute of Sport, a role he has been Acting in since October 2023.
Matt spent close to three years as the CEO of SportWest and over this period the organisation has undergone a rapid evolution. On behalf of the Board I have expressed my sincere appreciation to Matt for his hard work and dedication during this time. In speaking to Matt, he expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Board, the team at SportWest and importantly to everyone in the industry.
You will likely be aware that Ashleigh Apps has been the Acting SportWest CEO over the past 6 months. Ashleigh has recently accepted a position at Curtin University and will be finishing her role at SportWest later this month. I would like to thank Ashleigh for her dedication to SportWest during this time and wish her all the best for the exciting new opportunity she is embarking on.
To ensure a period of stability at an important time for the organisation, Peter Minchin has agreed to join SportWest as Acting CEO while the Board undertakes a recruitment process. Peter has worked in a range of roles across the industry over the past 20 years and he is excited to support the SportWest board and staff in the coming weeks.
The next few months is a critical period for the organisation and I look forward to supporting Peter and the full team as we embark on the next evolution of the peak body for sport in this State.
