Women of Sport Network Christmas Luncheon | Thursday 30 November |
As the year begins to wrap up and we head into the festive season, SportWest invites you to join us for the Women of Sport Network, Christmas Luncheon, proudly supported by Hyundai on Thursday 30 November at the Ambrose Estate, Wembley Golf Course.
The Women of Sport Network initiative was originally setup by a passionate group of women within the sports industry keen to ensure women had opportunities to connect, network and support each other. In the spirit of giving, SportWest encourages guests to donate a piece of Business Wear, that we will then donate to Dress for Success.
Dress for Success Perth is a registered charity that is part of a global movement of change, empowering women to obtain economic independence by providing them with work-appropriate attire, job support mentoring, access to career development workshops and a supportive network to enable them to move forward and achieve self-sufficiency through gainful employment.

True Sport | Child Safegaurding Forum |
You are invited to attend the True Sport Child Safeguarding in Sport Forum on Thursday 2 November from 9am – 12 noon at Royal Perth Golf Club, following Children’s Week.
This forum will provide the opportunity for WA State Sport Associations to hear about the latest information and requirements around child safety in sport, including how to comply with the Working with Children legislation, and meet members of the SportWest Child Safeguarding in Sport Advisory Group.
The newly developed True Sport Child Safeguarding resources will also be launched at this forum. These resources will assist WA State Sport Associations navigate, understand and then start working towards the implementation of the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations.
Children’s Week runs from 21 – 29 October 2023 and is an opportunity to increase conversations about the importance of keeping children and young people safe in sport across WA. |

Mental Health and Wellbeing Workshops |
Register for one of our upcoming True Sport Mental Health and Wellbeing Workshops at SportHQ, Floreat on Tuesday, 24th October 2023 or; full day workshop on Wednesday, 8th November.
These workshops will help State Sporting Association staff to embed True Sport – Mental Health and Wellbeing resources within their sporting context and become Mental Health Champions. Participants will learn skills appropriate for a sport administrator to respond to mental health issues and help promote positive mental health and wellbeing outcomes. Workshops attendees will also be supported to brainstorm and develop a draft mental health and wellbeing strategy to take back to their sporting organisation. |

SportWest Board | Notice Seeking Nominations |
This week, SportWest opened nominations for the Elected Board Directors. In accordance with Rule 18.2 of the SportWest Constitution, nominations are sought for suitably qualified individuals who wish to be considered for election as a Board Member at the upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM).
At the 2023 AGM there will be an election to fill two Elected Board member positions. Nominations for Elected Board Members must:

In writing using the attached 2023 Nomination Form, including a current CV;

Signed by the nominator; and

Signed by the person who is the candidate for election expressing a willingness to accept the position for which they have been nominated.

Do you know someone who is a champion of multiculturalism in sport? |
Nominations are now open for the WA Multicultural Awards 2024. The WA Multicultural Awards celebrate individuals and organisations who have made a positive contribution to multiculturalism in Western Australia.
There are a total of ten categories, awarded for contributions to different spheres of public and professional life.
The Sportsperson of the Year Award is awarded to an individual who, through their commitment to their chosen sport, has lifted the profile of culturally and linguistically diverse communities and contributed to a more harmonious Western Australia.
The recipient of the 2023 Award was netballer Sunday Aryang, in recognition of her outstanding contribution to Australian netball and being the first African-born player to represent the Australian Diamonds.
