Issue 36 -  22 September, 2023 | Special Edition

True Sport | Powered by SportWest

SportWest proudly launched its new industry-led initiative, True Sport in front of over 200 representatives including the Minister for Sport and Recreation, Hon. David Templeman MLA, Chief Executive Officer’s and leaders from State Sporting Associations, professional sports, elite athletes and government representatives, at Optus Stadium on Wednesday, 20th September 2023.

True Sport is a cohesive, all-sport approach to align values, culture and practices of sport delivery across WA and enrich the sport experience for all participants. Encouraging behaviour change, increasing capacity and addressing industry challenges. Pairing external messaging with internal tools and resources, True Sport aims to embed behaviours to enrich the sport experience in WA.

SportWest are pleased to share that the WA Government will be investing $832,292 into the next phase of True Sport. The funding will enable the development of a new website that will become the central hub for all sporting organisations to access tools and resources to support the industry. It will also support an industry Employee Assistance Program to support administrators to deal with difficult and confronting situations, as well as a Volunteer Assistance Program that will respond to local sporting clubs facing critical incidents, providing counselling support on the ground when needed.

True Sport |Sideline Behaviour

On behalf of SportWest, we invite you to attend the True Sport Sideline Behaviour Webinar.

The True Sport Sideline Behaviour Initiative seeks to increase public awareness of the impact of poor sideline behaviour in sporting environments. A marketing campaign seeks to inspire change, with supporting resources to support behaviour change.

We encourage the relevant team members from your organization to attend the webinar, specifically those in marketing and communications. Content will be focused on the marketing campaign and toolkit supplied to SSAs, including key messages, digital assets and the campaign timeline.
