SportWest is thrilled to announce the relaunch of its True Sport Sideline Behaviour Marketing Campaign, aimed at promoting positive sportsmanship and respectful behaviour among spectators.
In a world where sportsmanship can sometimes take a backseat to competitiveness, SportWest remains committed to fostering an environment where respect, fairness, and integrity prevail both on and off the field.
The re-launch of the campaign is timely, as we head into the Winter sporting season. By reigniting the True Sport Sideline Behaviour Marketing Campaign, SportWest seeks to address these challenges head-on and promote a culture of positivity and respect within sports. |

SportWest Member Update |
SportWest has announced that Ashleigh Apps, will be resigning from her position with SportWest.
SportWest Chairman Liam Twigger thanked Ashleigh for her strong leadership and commitment to the organisation, while continuing to drive the organisation forward over the past six months as Acting CEO.
“We commend Ashleigh’s commitment to SportWest through her roles as Chief Operating Officer and Acting CEO. With significant achievements including the development of new Strategic Plan, future event and engagement strategy and securing funding to advance the Women of Sport Network Program, she has built strong foundations for us to continue. We wish her all the best in her future career progression”.
Mrs Apps stated “I have enjoyed working closely with our Board, valued members and partners across government, corporate and the WA Sporting Industry. We have a vibrant and passionate industry that will continue to grow and enhance with support of the dedicated SportWest team”.
The SportWest Board will make further announcements in due course regarding the interim appointment of a COO to support the Executive team during this transition period. |

It's been an enormous 16-month period for Football in Australia. The FIFA Men's World Cup in late 2022 was followed by a FIFA Women's World Cup at venues around Australia including Perth. The Matildas also had success in Olympic Qualifiers in Perth to coincide with the official opening of the Sam Kerr Football Centre.
The new facility also hosted the Para Football National Championships. But what has been the local impact from these events, and how is Football West intending to build a local legacy for the game in Western Australia?

Major win for community sporting and recreation facilities in WA |
The State Government is showing its commitment to community sporting and recreation needs by providing a major source of funding for the year ahead — $24.2 million in total for facilities’ infrastructure and lighting up clubs at night.
More than $20 million is being given out to 24 projects via the Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund (CSRFF) for short. Clubs and local governments are receiving funding for improvements such as new changerooms as well as football, netball, tennis, swimming, golf, bowling, BMX, and skate park facilities. The breakdown is: 13 projects in metropolitan Perth receiving $13.2 million in total; and 11 projects in regional Western Australian getting $7.6 million in total.
Meanwhile the Club Night Lights Program, (CNLP) is distributing more than $3.4 million to 11 projects to upgrade lighting or install new floodlights: 8 projects in metropolitan Perth to receive a total of $2,524,543 million; and 3 projects in regional Western Australian receiving $876,148 in total. |

Reconciliation WA | RAP Ready |
RAP Ready is Reconciliation WA’s free and accessible forum to support organisations commencing or continuing their Reconciliation Action Plan journey. The sessions alternate between online and in-person events.
RAP Ready is a guide for organisations progressing their reconciliation journey and offers the opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals and organisations in Western Australia’s reconciliation community. Everyone has a role to play in reconciliation, and everyone is welcome.
The forums are presented by Danny Ford (Kambarang Services) and Tim Muirhead (CSD Network), who both have extensive experience in supporting organisations on RAP Program development. Attendees can expect an introduction to the RAP program, a presentation on progressing through the RAP levels, an organisational case study and a Q&A session. |

International Festival of Hockey to descend on Perth |
Hockey Australia in partnership with the WA Government, through Tourism Western Australia, are excited to announce a brand-new International Festival of Hockey to be hosted in Perth this April.
The month-long Festival will see Australia’s iconic women’s and men’s hockey teams, the Hockeyroos and Kookaburras, play against some of the world’s best. It will be the last and only chance fans have to see the teams in action on home soil before they head to the Olympic Games in Paris this year. |
