2026 WA Sport Industry Conference | Beyond Sport: Where Health, Community and Economy Connect
|
|
Sport is more than competition. It is a powerful driver of healthier communities, stronger social connections and economic prosperity across Western Australia.
Early bird tickets are now on sale for the 2026 WA Sport Industry Conference.
This year's theme, Beyond Sport: Where health, community and economy connect, explores the growing role of sport and recreation as a catalyst for positive change. As our sector faces new opportunities and challenges, the conference will bring together leaders, decision-makers and changemakers to examine how sport contributes to community wellbeing, strengthens social cohesion and delivers value beyond the playing field.
Through inspiring keynote presentations, insightful panel discussions and engaging conversations, delegates will explore innovative ideas, emerging trends and practical strategies to help maximise sport's impact across health, community and economic outcomes.
We are proud to present this year's conference in partnership with the WA Government, whose ongoing commitment to advancing sport and recreation in Western Australia helps make this event possible.

From Self-Doubt to Self-Confidence: Building Self-Trust from the Inside Out
|
|
Self-doubt can hold even highly capable people back from speaking up, pursuing opportunities, stepping into leadership or taking the next big step. But self-confidence isn't something we need to wait for. It's something we can build and strengthen.
In this practical and reflective workshop, you'll explore the thoughts and stories that fuel self-doubt, uncover the evidence of your own capability, and learn how to strengthen self-trust and self-confidence. You'll work through practical strategies to shift your inner narrative from "I'm not confident" to "I can figure this out" and build the courage and confidence to give anything a go.
The goal of this workshop isn't to eliminate self-doubt or become fearless. It's to help you develop a deeper understanding of yourself and give you the strategies to know how to strengthen the courage and confidence to step forward, even when you don't have all the answers.
Date: Thursday 27 August 2026 Venue: Sport HQ | 203 Underwood Ave, Floreat WA 6014 Time: 9:30am - 12:00pm Details: Includes networking opportunity and light refreshments Registration: Limited tickets available! Registration closes at 12:00pm Friday 21 August Cost: SportWest Members $25. Non-members $38. |

Local Sporting Stars | Congratulations Emma and Joshua
|
|
We're proud to announce Emma Streich and Joshua Seah as this fortnight's recipients of the WA Local Sporting Stars Volunteer Recognition Program.
Emma Streich is a transformational volunteer whose leadership has made inclusion a defining feature of her club. Through targeted programs and a strong commitment to accessibility, Emma has helped increase female participation to 47 per cent while creating opportunities for players of all abilities to succeed. Her award-winning Tiny Tiger Mentor Program provides tailored support for children with disabilities and additional needs, while her work with families helps foster positive pathways for participants facing behavioural and social challenges. Emma's dedication has created a club culture built on belonging, respect and opportunity for all.
Joshua Seah has been a valued member of the Western Flames Ice Racing Club since joining as a young skater and has recently stepped into a coaching role to support the next generation. While balancing his final year of school and preparation to represent Australia at the Junior World Short Track Championships, Joshua has generously volunteered his time to mentor younger athletes. Through one-on-one coaching, skill development and encouragement, he helps build confidence and enjoyment in the sport. His commitment to giving back and leading by example makes him an outstanding role model within the club.
Nominations for future recipients remain open, with winners selected by a dedicated panel throughout the program. Community members are encouraged to nominate the volunteers who make a difference in their local clubs and help keep sport strong across Western Australia. |
