From Self-Doubt to Self-Confidence: Building Self-Trust from the Inside Out

Self-doubt can hold even highly capable people back from speaking up, pursuing opportunities, stepping into leadership or taking the next big step. But self-confidence isn't something we need to wait for. It's something we can build and strengthen.

In this practical and reflective workshop, you'll explore the thoughts and stories that fuel self-doubt, uncover the evidence of your own capability, and learn how to strengthen self-trust and self-confidence. You'll work through practical strategies to shift your inner narrative from "I'm not confident" to "I can figure this out" and build the courage and confidence to give anything a go.

The goal of this workshop isn't to eliminate self-doubt or become fearless. It's to help you develop a deeper understanding of yourself and give you the strategies to know how to strengthen the courage and confidence to step forward, even when you don't have all the answers.

Date: Thursday 27 August 2026
Venue: Sport HQ | 203 Underwood Ave, Floreat WA 6014

Local Sporting Stars | Congratulations Maria and Brad

We're proud to announce Maria Lathouwers and Brad Moor as this fortnight's recipients of the WA Local Sporting Stars Volunteer Recognition Program.

Maria Lathouwers is a driving force behind her local tennis club, serving as Social Tennis Coordinator and helping create a welcoming, connected community for members. From organising events and maintaining the club grounds to supporting members and improving club facilities, Maria generously contributes countless hours behind the scenes. Her proactive approach, attention to detail and unwavering commitment have strengthened both the club environment and its community spirit, making her an invaluable volunteer.

Brad Moor has been recognised for his outstanding contribution as his club's Mental Wellbeing Champion. Through his compassionate and reliable support, Brad helps ensure members feel valued, connected and supported both on and off the field. He regularly undertakes mental health training to strengthen his ability to assist others and is a constant presence at club events and activities. Often working quietly behind the scenes, Brad's empathy, dedication and commitment to the wellbeing of others make him a highly respected member of the club community.

Nominations for future recipients remain open, with winners selected by a dedicated panel throughout the program. Community members are encouraged to nominate the volunteers who make a difference in their local clubs and help keep sport strong across Western Australia.

Places to Play | Australia's National Community Sport InfrastructurePlan

Community sport is one of Australia’s greatest strengths. It brings people together, builds healthier and more cohesive communities and creates opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to participate, connect and belong.

The success of community sport depends on having sufficient and appropriate places to play which enable welcoming, safe and inclusive experiences. Across Australia local facilities are vital places for sport and active recreation. For safe gathering in times of disaster, as sites of celebration and welcoming and as community hubs supporting essential social connection and cohesion across metropolitan, regional and remote communities.

Places to Play sets out a new, nationally aligned approach to community sport infrastructure, one that places participation outcomes at the centre of decision-making. It is not a blueprint for a single organisation, sport or level of government, but is designed to span traditional thinking about levels and jurisdictions. It is a shared plan for collective action by the system, one that recognises the different roles across the system, while uniting them around a Common Goal and a Common Ground.

Your Behaviour is Always in Play! | Share the Video Campaign

True Sport is proud to relaunch the Sideline Behaviour Initiative, in partnership with the WA Government, supporting sporting organisations, clubs, volunteers, officials, coaches, participants and spectators to help create positive, respectful sporting environments across Western Australia.

At the heart of the refreshed campaign is a new message: “Your Behaviour is Always in Play.”

The initiative reminds us that while the action may be on the field, court, track or pool, the behaviour demonstrated on the sidelines has a lasting impact on the sporting experience for everyone involved.

We encourage all member organisations to share the campaign video and resources across your networks, clubs and communities to help reinforce the message that respectful behaviour is everyone's responsibility.
