2026 Remuneration and Benefits Report | Now Available
|
|
SportWest has released the latest WA Sport Industry Remuneration & Benefits Report, providing a comprehensive picture of workforce trends, remuneration and employee benefits across Western Australia's sport sector.
Drawing on responses from sporting organisations across the sector, the third edition of the report delivers critical benchmarking data to help organisations make informed decisions around recruitment, retention and workforce development.
The findings paint a picture of a sector that continues to evolve. Female representation now makes up 55.4% of the workforce, while full-time employment has increased significantly to 77.6% of all roles, highlighting the continued professionalisation of sport administration across the state. Salaries have also continued to grow, particularly across management roles, reflecting increasing demand for skilled and experienced professionals.

Your Behaviour is Always in Play! | Sideline Behaviour Relaunch
|

True Sport is proud to relaunch the Sideline Behaviour Initiative, in partnership with the WA Government, supporting sporting organisations, clubs, volunteers, officials, coaches, participants and spectators to help create positive, respectful sporting environments across Western Australia.
At the heart of the refreshed campaign is a new message: “Your Behaviour is Always in Play.”
The initiative reminds us that while the action may be on the field, court, track or pool, the behaviour demonstrated on the sidelines has a lasting impact on the sporting experience for everyone involved.
We encourage all member organisations to share the campaign video and resources across your networks, clubs and communities to help reinforce the message that respectful behaviour is everyone's responsibility.
Together, we can continue building sporting environments where everyone feels welcome, respected and supported. |

SportWest is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Project Officer to help deliver Best on Road Live, a community-based road safety initiative that engages sporting communities across Western Australia.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is outgoing, organised and passionate about making a difference through sport. Previous road safety or behaviour change experience is not required, and applicants from a range of backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
The position is a fixed-term contract through to 30 June 2028, with the potential for extension subject to future funding. |

Local Sporting Stars | Congratulations Ian and Craig!
|
|
We're proud to announce Ian Ainger and Craig Baker as this fortnight's recipients of the WA Local Sporting Stars Volunteer Recognition Program.
Ian Ainger has been a cornerstone of Southside BMX Club for more than 35 years, serving as President, Track Manager, committee member and race commentator. A Life Member and former BMX racer, Ian has dedicated decades to growing the club, overseeing major facility upgrades including a new start ramp, scoring office and $1.2 million clubhouse. Through fundraising, sponsorship and hands-on volunteer work, he has helped rebuild the club from the ground up. Widely respected across the BMX community, Ian continues to support riders, volunteers and clubs across Western Australia.
Craig Baker has dedicated more than 20 years to developing athletes and coaches through community sport. As Head Coach of Broome Athletics, he mentors volunteer coaches, coordinates events and helps athletes reach their potential. Beyond athletics, Craig has also volunteered extensively in junior football and school sport, sharing his expertise to build skills, confidence and participation. Through his "coach the coaches" sessions, Craig empowers others to step into coaching roles, creating a lasting impact on sport throughout the Broome community.
Nominations for future recipients remain open, with winners selected by a dedicated panel throughout the program. Community members are encouraged to nominate the volunteers who make a difference in their local clubs and help keep sport strong across Western Australia. |

BodyKind Sport for Coaches & Support Staff

True Sport is partnering with the Butterfly Foundation to deliver a free BodyKind Sport for Coaches and Support Staff workshop, designed to help create safe, supportive and inclusive sporting environments for young athletes.
Facilitated by Danni Rowlands, Butterfly Foundation's National Manager for Prevention Service, this practical session will explore the important role coaches and support staff play in shaping young people's relationships with their bodies, eating and sport.
This workshop is ideal for coaches, team managers, support staff and anyone working with young athletes who wants to foster positive sporting experiences and support athlete wellbeing.

Measuring the Impact of Sport in Australia | Share your Experiences

Sport is about much more than participation numbers and medal tallies. Its real value comes from the differences it makes to individuals, communities and across society.
We see this in everyday stories – how sport helps people feel healthier and more confident, brings communities together and supports local jobs and businesses.
Understanding and communicating these outcomes is essential if we are to effectively advocate for sport with governments, businesses, philanthropists, policymakers and communities.
To better understand and explain the value of sport, the Australian Sports Commission (ASC) and the Office for Sport (OFS) are developing a clear and practical way to identify and measure its impact.
They want to hear what you think are the most important outcomes of sport - both positive and negative. Your insights will help build a shared understanding of how sport makes a difference and ensures the voices of those involved in sport are part of the process.
Combined with findings from broader research, your input will help create a clear and trusted way to show the value of sport across Australia. Thanks for being part of this work. |

Help Shape the Future of Disability Sport in Australia
|

The vision of Australia's Play Well Sport Participation Strategy is that "Everyone has a place in Sport" and its mission is "to create safe, welcoming, inclusive and fun experiences". The Australian Sports Commission and the University of Queensland are collaborating on a project to develop a National Disability Sport Action Plan that will enact this vision and mission. This stakeholder survey is the first step in the project.
Through this survey they want to understand how you – the stakeholders in disability sport – think safe, welcoming, inclusive and fun experiences can be delivered. The aim is to create a person centred, codesigned plan that aligns organisations supporting people with disabilities in sport, making it easier to start, stay and thrive. |

Conflict is an inevitable part of working with people, and at some point we will all encounter an agitated, aggressive or emotional interaction. How we respond can make the difference between a smooth resolution and an escalating situation.
This practical workshop will provide participants with tools and techniques to confidently respond to threatening, violent, aggressive and unexpected behaviour. It is particularly valuable for those in public-facing or high-pressure environments, including sport and recreation settings.

SportWest Parent Perspectives | The Findings Are In
|
|
SportWest is pleased to release the findings of the inaugural Parent Perspectives Survey, delivered in partnership with the WA Government and The University of Western Australia. A key deliverable of the True Sport Parent Engagement Strategy, the survey gathered insights from more than 667 parents and carers representing over 1,300 children participating in more than 50 sports across Western Australia.
The report captures a snapshot of the factors influencing family participation, revealing what matters most to parents and carers as they support their children's sport experience. As the key enablers of junior sport participation, parents play a critical role beyond financial and logistical support, navigating the emotional highs and lows of the sporting journey alongside their children.
The findings provide the sector with fresh insights to inform decision-making, celebrate what is working well, and continue to evolve the experience of sport across Western Australia.
