WA Sports Industry Concussion Working Group

SportWest invites expressions of interest from individuals across the WA sporting community to join the WA Sports Industry Concussion Working Group to meet in accordance with a refreshed Terms of Reference for the Working Group.


This group brings together representatives from sports with a vested interest in concussion management – including those with higher concussion risk environments – to share best practice, strengthen our collective understanding, and support safe participation in sport in Western Australia.

AIM WA Community Training Grants Recipient

SportWest are thrilled to be announced as a successful applicant in the AIM WA Community Training Grant (organisation category) for 2025.


Thanks to the Australian Institute of Management (AIM WA), SportWest staff will now have access to specialised training programs that aim to increase the capabilities of the individuals, to better service our members and broader industry.

SportWest Connect Sessions with the Australian Sports Technologies Network

SportWest, in partnership with the Australian Sports Technologies Network (ASTN), will deliver back‑to‑back SportWest Connect sessions next month.


Both sessions will be presented on Wednesday 25 March at Sport HQ in Floreat.

  • Session 1: Digital Transformation in Sport | 9:00am – 10:00am
    This session will focus on the evolving digital landscape in sport and is especially targeted to our SportWest Connect Executive Cohort.
  • Session 2: AI and Sports | 10:15am – 11:15am
    Following a short break, we’ll dive into how artificial intelligence is shaping sport. This session is particularly relevant to our SportWest Connect Marketing, Communication and Events group.

Both sessions have been scheduled back‑to‑back to make it easy for those who are interested in attending both.

Kick‑off for the 2026 NRL season is just around the corner, and the SportWest NRL Tipping Competition is now officially open!

Applications open for 2026-27 Volunteering WA Research Grants

Volunteering WA has a well-established Research Grant program for projects that facilitate connections between Volunteering WA, researchers and our members.  Research proposals are now open for any matter that contributes to our understanding of volunteering and how to advance the sector in Western Australia.


Past projects have explored AI adoption, family volunteering, informal volunteering, aged care volunteering, and more. How could you use this funding to learn more about the sector?


We strongly encourage interested parties to speak with Dominique Hansen, Manager Policy & Research at Volunteering WA, before submitting their application. Please get in touch via phone (08 9482 4333) or email (dominique@volunteeringwa.org.au) to set up a time to discuss your research project.

Safer Internet Day is one moment in the calendar – but online safety is a year-round conversation especially with young people. The eSafety Commission want young people’s voices at the table, helping shape the way we talk about online safety and how we support young Australians.

Sideline Behaviour Workshop for State Sporting Associations | 

Strengthening Sideline Culture and Leadership through Respect in Sport

As part of the True Sport Sideline Behaviour Initiative, SportWest, in partnership with the WA State Government, is delivering the Club Respect Workshop for State Sporting Associations (SSAs) ahead of the winter season. This session equips SSA leaders with practical tools, frameworks and strategies to take back to their clubs to support positive sideline behaviour and stronger club culture.


Delivered by Club Respect, this interactive workshop provides clear and practical guidance on how to build and sustain a culture of respect across club environments — from committee and leadership groups through to coaches, players and spectators. Using the A.W.E.S.O.M.E. Framework (“The Game Plan”), participants will work through structured elements designed to help clubs assess their current culture and identify clear actions for improvement.

Sideline Behaviour Workshop for State Sporting Associations | 

Strengthening sideline culture and building respect at club level

As part of the True Sport Sideline Behaviour Initiative, SportWest, in partnership with the WA State Government, is delivering the Club Respect Workshop to support clubs ahead of the winter season. Respectful Relationships in Sport & Recreation Workshop | Join Us

SportWest, in partnership with Starick, invites clubs and organisations to take part in the first workshop of the Respectful Relationships in Sport & Recreation Program on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.


This interactive session will help leaders, coaches, and volunteers build safer, more inclusive environments by deepening understanding of respectful behaviours, gendered drivers of violence, and practical strategies to strengthen club culture.
