Evaluating the Impact of True Sport – UWA Evaluation Now Open

Since its launch in 2023, True Sport has become a cornerstone of positive change in Western Australia’s sporting landscape. Through its first three initiatives—Mental Health & Wellbeing, Sideline Behaviour, and Child Safeguarding—True Sport has supported clubs, volunteers, and organisations in creating sporting environments that promote wellbeing, respect, and safety.

Now, as we look toward the future, we’re inviting the sporting community to take part in an independent evaluation of the program, led by expert health promotion researchers at The University of Western Australia (UWA).

What we’re asking from you:

We’re encouraging all stakeholders to complete the survey and share their experiences with the True Sport program. Whether you’ve engaged with one initiative or all three, your feedback will help shape the next phase of True Sport.

The survey focuses on:

  • True Sport Mental Health & Wellbeing – supporting mental health literacy and awareness in sport

  • True Sport Sideline Behaviour – promoting respectful conduct and positive role modelling

  • True Sport Child Safeguarding – strengthening child safety practices across clubs and organisations

This evaluation is made possible thanks to the ongoing support of the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport, whose partnership has helped True Sport reach communities across WA.

We’re proud of how far True Sport has come, but we know there’s more to do. Your voice will help us continue building a sporting culture that’s safe, supportive, and inclusive for all.

Australian Sports Commission (ASC) – Play Well First Nations Advisory Group EOI

The Australian Sports Commission (ASC) are pleased to invite Expressions of Interest (EOI) from Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander individuals to join the Play Well First Nations Advisory Group. This group will play a vital role in shaping the Play Well Connection to County Action Plan that seeks to create safe, welcoming, inclusive and fun sporting experiences.

By increasing awareness of First Nations Peoples and cultures, ASC will unearth an environment in which we can have two-way knowledge sharing built on mutual respect and understanding. This creates an important vehicle for building community identity and social cohesion.

ASC's aim is to develop a Play Well Connection to Country Action Plan that promotes and upholds our commitment to reconciliation and the principle of self-determination. In doing so, this will help create culturally safe environments that support First Nations Peoples to participate in, and enjoy, all roles in sport.
