Wanna be the ultimate Wheelmate? |
|
Approximately 9,000 students will travel to the South West for Leavers from 24 to 27 November. This means a significant number of inexperienced drivers may be driving regionally for the first time, and often with friends in their vehicle.
With 17 to 19-years-olds twice as likely to be involved in fatal crashes than other drivers, the Road Safety Commission is encouraging all Leavers to be a Wheelmate.
Knowing how to be a Wheelmate is important for all Year 12s so they can not only be prepared for Lavers but so they look out for each other behind the wheel no matter where they’re heading.
The Road Safety Commission is asking you to help spread the word on Wheelmates to Leavers and their families and has prepared a range of content for you to share directly with or adapt for your school community.
Together, let’s get everyone home safe. |

Road Worker Day of Remembrance |
|
Behind the hi-vis, cones and lane closures are parents, friends, neighbours; people - with someone waiting for them at home and an important job to do. They are keeping you, their teams and those around them safe.
Too often, lives are cut short, and families changed forever, by drivers who only see an inconvenience, not what’s at stake.
So on November 9, we remember them - those we’ve lost, those injured, and those still out there keeping our roads safe. Everyday heroes with their lives on the line.
Slow down. Pay attention. Look beyond the hi-vis.
SEE the people working to protect all of us, and remember it’s up to us all to make sure everyone gets home safe.
Because every life lost is one too many. Together, we can make sure every road worker makes it home.
Honour. Remember. Protect.

Sport is for Every BODY |
|
“Your body doesn’t have to look a certain way to play sport.” Too many young people feel judged or left out because of comments about how they look. Some even stop playing altogether.
Sport Integrity Australia (SIA) in partnership with The Embrace Collective, have recently launched The Sport is for Every BODY campaign, a campaign that reminds us that sport isn’t about having the “right” body. Sport is about having fun, feeling good, and being part of a team.
As part of the 'Sport is for Every BODY' campaign, SIA have resources for athletes, sporting clubs, coaches and parents. These resources will help you promote positive language and behaviours around body image in sport. |
