Children's Week | 18–26 October 2025

Running from 18–26 October, Children’s Week is a time to celebrate children and promote their rights as outlined by the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).


This year’s theme is:
“Everyone should know about Children’s Rights” inspired by Article 42 of the UNCRC, which highlights the importance of making children’s rights known to adults and children alike.

Industry Workforce Capability Course Opportunity | The New Manager

We're excited to engage AIM WA to deliver a course for sports professionals, targeting managers, team leaders, or other people who are planning a career in management, free of charge. AIM WA is an organisation with over 60 years' experience delivering tailored training and development programs that meet the needs of West Australian organisations.


This three-day face-to-face program equips new and emerging sport industry managers with practical skills in leadership, project and financial management, stakeholder engagement, and team performance.


Participants will develop tools to manage people, priorities, and change effectively, while building leadership styles, emotional intelligence, and strategies to achieve both individual and organisational goals.

Online Safety in Sport Webinar

In support of Children's Week 2025, join SportWest and the eSafety Commissioner for a must-attend webinar tackling the biggest online safety risks facing kids in sport. From cyberbullying and image-based abuse to new social media age restrictions coming this December, this session will help SSOs stay informed, prepared, and proactive.


Learn how to spot online harm, respond effectively, and use True Sport resources to build safer digital environments. Hear directly from experts, ask questions live, and get practical tools to protect young people in your organisation.


Who is this session for: State Sport Organisations (SSOs). SSOs are recommended to identify their most appropriate staff member(s) and/or volunteer(s) to attend this interactive webinar.

Sport Experience Design: The Immersion Workshop

Reframing Participation Through the Eyes of Players, Parents, and Volunteers 


Following his sold-out presentation at the 2025 WA Sport Industry Conference, SportWest is proud to offer a unique professional development opportunity with Andrew O'Loughlin commencing on Thursday 30 October before he returns to the east coast.   


This two-part series begins with a half-day workshop designed to take sport administrators out of the office and into the game— exploring the moments that can make or break the sport experience from the view of the participant. 


You will leave with a refreshed perspective, strategies, and a toolkit to support the implementation of actions that you can apply to your role working at a State Sporting Association. This will be supported by an online check point discussion (Part 2) four weeks later.  


Part 1: Thursday 30 October | 10.15am-1.30pm |   Sport HQ Precinct 

Part 2: Thursday 27 November | 2.00pm-3.00pm | Teams (online) 


Places are limited to a maximum two participants per State Sporting Association and will sell out.   Please ensure that you can attend both sessions before registering.

Building Mental Health Capacity in Peel's Sporting Community

As part of Mental Health Month, SportWest partnered with the Peel office of the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport (CITS Peel) and the City of Mandurah to deliver two targeted True Sport mental health and wellbeing workshops to local sporting communities. 


Held at the Mandurah Aquatic and Recreation Centre, the sessions welcomed members from Mandurah Basketball Association and Mandurah Swimming Club, equipping them with practical tools to support mental health in sport.
