Final Chance to Participate & Support | Parent Perspectives Survey Closes Sunday 5 October

We’re entering the final week of data collection, with the inaugural Parent Perspectives Survey closing Sunday 5 October.

If you’re a parent of school-aged children, or work with Western Australian families in the delivery of sport, this is your final opportunity to:

  • Spend 5 minutes completing the survey

  • Share the “last chance” graphic across your social media channels any time between now and 5 October.

Developed in partnership with the WA Government and The University of Western Australia, the Parent Perspectives Survey is the first step in SportWest’s strategy to empower parents as a key facilitator of junior sport.

While it’s a busy time between seasons, this opportunity to capture the experiences, challenges, and expectations of parents will deepen our understanding of what’s needed to support junior sport across WA.

The insights gathered will help shape the resources and expertise required to support families participating in your sport and guide the ongoing communication to upskill and embed positive sideline behaviour, child safeguarding, mental health and respectful relationships.

To ensure your clubs and associations are represented in shaping future parenting support in sport, we invite you to share the social media tile, available for download via the link below. If you have any questions or need additional formats, please contact beth@sportwest.com.au.

Online Safety in Sport Webinar

In support of Children's Week WA 2025, join us for an Online Safety in Sport Webinar.
In alignment with the 10 National Principles for Child Safe Organisations, this webinar aligns with National Principle 8 - Physical and online environments promote safety and wellbeing while minimising the opportunity for children and young people to be harmed.

Co-facilitated by SportWest's True Sport program and the eSafety Commissioner, and proudly supported by the State Government, this practical education session will explore key online safety risks in sport. Participants will learn how to identify and respond to issues such as cyberbullying of children, the non-consensual sharing of images or videos, and other forms of online harm. The session will also provide guidance on how to report harmful content and access support services. Additionally, it will highlight how to use True Sport resources to help create safer online environments and reduce the risk of harm to children and young people in sport.

This webinar will also address the upcoming social media age restrictions, set to take effect on 10 December 2025. These world-first measures introduced by the Australian Government aim to protect young Australians during a critical stage of their development.

Join us to learn what these changes mean for the sport sector, how to prepare, and how they may impact your organisation’s online engagement. You can also explore the information hub for detailed guidance - or tune into the webinar to hear directly from the eSafety Commissioner and have your questions answered.
