WA Sport Industry Conference | Save the Date Wednesday 29 October 2025 |
|
Wednesday 29 October 2025 | Pan Pacific Perth
In every corner of Western Australia, sport has the power to unite communities, shape lives and create lasting impact. But great sport doesn’t happen by chance — it’s driven by leaders with vision, purpose and a commitment to lifting others.
The 2025 WA Sport Industry Conference is a day to come together as a sector, share ideas, challenge perspectives and explore what it truly means to lead. Through thought-provoking keynotes, insightful panels, and interactive sessions, we’ll uncover ways to inspire our people, empower our communities, and elevate the role of sport in building a stronger, healthier WA.
We are proud to present this year’s conference with the support of the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport, whose commitment to advancing sport and recreation in WA helps make this event possible.
Whether you lead on the field, in the boardroom, or behind the scenes, this is your moment to connect, learn and help shape the future of sport in Western Australia.
Let’s lead — together.
More details and registration coming soon.

CCIWA Membership / SportWest Webinar Series | Right to Disconnect Laws
|
|
SportWest has partnered with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry WA (CCIWA) to offer members with fewer than 30 full-time employees access to HR and legal support services, free of charge. Through your own dedicated CCIWA portal, you’ll be able to access expert support, advice and resources tailored to your needs. For larger member organisations, you’ll be able to access discounted advisory services as part of this partnership. To take advantage of this opportunity please contact Callum Warner by email. As part of this partnership, SportWest, in collaboration with CCIWA, invites you to join us for a webinar designed to help sport administrators understand Right to Disconnect laws. From August 2024, the new Right to Disconnect laws came into effect for most employers, with small businesses (less than 15 employees) to follow on 26 August 2025. This legal update, embedded in the Fair Work Act and modern awards, gives employees the right to refuse unreasonable contact outside of their working hours. But what does “unreasonable” mean in practice? And how can sporting organisations manage the changes without losing flexibility or team connection? We will also introduce and discuss the services accessible to SportWest members through CCIWA.
Date: Tuesday 19 August 2025 Venue: Online Time: 9:30am-10:30am Details: Webinar link will be emailed to participants on Monday prior. Registration: Closes at 5:00pm Sunday 17 August 2025 Cost: SportWest members Free | Non-members $30 |

Track Concussion Recovery with HeadCheck and the AUS-mTBI Concussion Study
|
|
SportWest is proud to support the Australian Mild Traumatic Brain Injury Study (AUS mTBI), a groundbreaking national research project to improve concussion recovery.
The study, led by Curtin University’s Prof Lindy Fitzgerald, aims to gather data from individuals who have experienced a recent concussion to better understand why some recover normally while others experience prolonged symptoms.
“There’s great potential to improve concussion care in Australia by identifying factors that predict delayed recovery, helping healthcare professionals better tailor treatments,” said Prof Fitzgerald.
“A key tool in this research is the HeadCheck app, which allows participants to track symptoms, monitor progress, and receive personalised guidance on returning to daily activities. The app empowers users to take control of their recovery while also contributing valuable data to the study.
“Up to 50 percent of concussion sufferers don’t seek medical care, leaving limited data about their recovery.
“Using the HeadCheck app, AUS-mTBI seeks to change this, enabling participants to report symptoms in real-time and receive personalised guidance for returning to daily activities. This data will help us create a clearer picture of concussion recovery.”
The study is open to adults and children (5+ years old), who have had a concussion in the past two weeks. No referral or diagnosis is needed—if you’ve had a concussion, join the AUS-mTBI study.
Participants can also share their symptom details with their doctor or other healthcare professionals |

Alongside a pulse check on each topic within the unique context of each sport, this session will generate ideas for how to address knowledge and/or practice gaps, where to find (or grow) valuable and reliable information and learn from the vast experience of the sector.
