Finalists for the 2024 WA Sport Awards have been confirmed, with Olympic medallists, community clubs and a host of volunteers set to be honoured when awards are presented on Thursday 6 February 2025 at Optus Stadium.
With almost 200 nominations to be celebrated, SportWest CEO Troy Kirkham said the WA Sport Awards continue to illustrate the integral role of sport in the lives of West Australians.
“With the SportWest WA Sport Awards recognising so many unbelievable performances over the past year, we’re really excited to celebrate these achievements.
It’s such a unique occasion on the WA sporting calendar to have community clubs, volunteers and administrators all honoured together in one special night alongside our high performing athletes, teams, coaches and officials. The community plays such a vital role in the pathway to greatness, and the WA Sport Awards are an occasion where everyone comes together to celebrate the contributions and achievements at every level of sport," said Mr Kirkham.

Australian Sports Commission | Women’s Mentor Program |
Applications are now open for the Australian Sports Commission Women's Mentor Program for community coaches and officials who identify as women. During this program, coaches and officials will be supported by the ASC team to develop and implement mentor programs, and drive gender equity and positive sport experiences for women and girls within their club or organisation.
The program provides an immersive experience focusing on equity, inclusion and cultural safety to provide greater access to sport. It’s about enabling, empowering and supporting women mentors, with the tools to influence positive change and navigate change management in their clubs or organisation.
All program participants will be required to nominate either a sponsor or peer support from their club or organisation. The peer support or sponsor will attend a series of virtual workshops to define and explore their role in driving gender equity.

We encourage all members of the WA sporting community to remain vigilant with self-care and keep an eye on the mental health and wellbeing of family and friends around you. Some tips to stay safe and maintain wellbeing during this period are below:
- Don’t overspend – your presence is more important than your presents!
- Conscious consumption of alcohol – count your drinks, use this free drink checker tool
- Don’t drink and drive – take a look at some other safe tips when on our roads this Christmas
- Talk to a mate – check in on your friends and family who might be doing it tough
