Finalists for the 2023 WA Sport Star Unveiled
|
A host of West Australian sports stars have delivered stellar performances in the last 12 months, with the strength of performances of our top athletes leaving 12 WA athletes vying for WA’s most prestigious sports award when WA sport is celebrated at the upcoming 2023 WA Sport Awards, held at HBF Stadium, on Thursday 29th February, 2024.
The 12 WA Sports Star Finalists are: Annabelle McIntyre (Rowing), Courtney Bruce (Netball), Jack Robinson (Surfing), Jai Hindley (Cycling - Road), Matt Wearn (Sailing), Matthew Richardson (Cycling – Track), Min Woo Lee (Golf), Minjee Lee (Golf), Mitchell Marsh (Cricket), Nina Kennedy (Athletics), Rhiannon Clarke (Athletics), Samantha Kerr (Football).

Sport and Recreation Events Funding Program | Grants Open
|
The Department of Local Government, Sport, and Cultural Industries (DLGSC) has opened its latest round of grant applications for its Sport and Recreation Events Funding Program.
The program provides vital financial support to sport and active recreation organisations, enabling them to plan, secure and execute a diverse range of sports and mass participation events across WA.
Funding provided through the program provides an opportunity to increase tourism from both interstate and overseas visitors and showcase WA’s unique offerings in arts, culture, sports, and Aboriginal attractions to a global audience.

Leadership Program to Help Women in High Performance Sport Level Up

Applications have opened for the Australian Institute of Sport Talent Program - Women in Executive, for women leaders in high performance sport.
The six-month course empowers women by fostering a sense of belonging and building a supportive community to enhance their leadership roles.

The Active Australia Innovation Challenge
|
The Heart Foundation has grants up to the value of $50,000 for new, innovative programs that get more people moving in schools, universities or local community groups. Applications are open from 5 February and close on 1 March.
The Active Australia Innovation Challenge is intended to support people who do not meet Australia’s Physical Activity Guidelines, are at risk of chronic disease and live in communities with high levels of physical inactivity, including rural and remote regions.

Pool Entry Pilot Program Enabling Kids to End Summer With a Splash

Ending summer with a splash! DLGSC are pleased to announce the new KidSport regional pool pilot program for eligible children and young people in the Gascoyne, Midwest, Wheatbelt and Great Southern regions.
Eligible children and young people can access a free season pass for their local swimming pool until the end of summer.

Child Safeguarding Workshop

You are invited to attend the True Sport Child Safeguarding Workshop where you will have the opportunity to better understand the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations (National Principles) and consider the work your SSA is already doing to implement each National Principle and identify your next focus areas.
This workshop is for WA State Sport Associations (SSAs). SSAs are recommended to identify their most appropriate staff member(s) and/or volunteer(s) to attend this interactive workshop

Mental Health and Wellbeing Workshop
|
Register for our upcoming True Sport Mental Health and Wellbeing Workshop at SportHQ.
This workshop will help State Sporting Association staff to embed True Sport – Mental Health and Wellbeing resources within their sporting context and become Mental Health Champions.
Participants will learn skills appropriate for a sport administrator to respond to mental health issues and help promote positive mental health and wellbeing outcomes.
